Book to the Future is back! The University of Birmingham’s literary festival will return to campus on Friday 19th & Saturday 20th October, featuring top talent from the region & alumni authors. The University’s annual festival of the written and spoken word will feature over 20 free workshops, panels, performances and author talks celebrating literary expressions of Birmingham, beauty, body positivity and multiculturalism.
Blogger panel
The 2018 ‘Book to the Future’ festival includes a panel of professional bloggers sharing their stories and successes. It will include Instagram-idol-turned- bestselling-author Alice Liveing. A UOB graduate, Alice has recently become an ambassador for Woman’s Aid and is a health and wellbeing influencer. She is joined UOB graduate, Hannah Witton, blogger, YouTuber, author and social media guru. Her content explores sex and relationships, health and body image. Also on the panel is one of Birmingham’s most popular bloggers, Emma Conway, better known as Brummymummyof2.

Birmingham academic Professor Heather Widdows unpacks beauty ideals and the pressure to conform, following her latest book ‘Perfect Me’.
Award-winning poet and UPB academic Dr Luke Kennard will lead an evening of poetry readings.
Highly acclaimed author Valeria Vescina discusses her debut novel That Summer in Puglia and her experiences with publishing.
Probing panels examine crucial themes like Decolonising the Curriculum and Diversity in Publishing.
A guided tour of the ‘Drawn to Books’ exhibition at Winterbourne House and Garden, featuring the work of fin de siècle female illustrators from Birmingham School.
A photography walking tour with Black Country Type, in search of typeface in the city and on campus.
